The Choice: Fossil Fuel Power
or Green Energy

When it comes to fossil fuel power plants, San Francisco is moving in the right direction.

It took years but residents of Bayview Hunters Point recently celebrated the closure of the Hunters Point Power Plant. In recent years, no one ever suggested that the Hunters Point Power Plant be replaced by a new power plant. In fact, working with PG&E, the City was able to identify alternative ways of getting power from outside the City to replace the power lost with the closure of the Hunters Point Power Plant.

These new power plants are a giant step back. By building three new fossil-fuel power plants in the middle of the city, the Board of Supervisors would reverse decades of responsible environmental stewardship here in San Francisco.
